UPDATE: Check out Amazon’s larger screen laptops! They currently have some great deals on larger screen laptops.

The 20″ laptop is a laptop that not to many people have seen or even used. The people that have one however sweat by them and wouldn’t use anything else. 20 laptops are tougher to find then you might think and not every laptop manufacturer produces models that large. Today we’re going to look at some of the advantages and disadvanteage associated with owning a 20″ laptop.

Advantages of a 20″ Laptop

A lot of people overlook some of the advanteage of owning a 20″ laptop. The biggest one that comes to mind is that you actually have a 20 inch display with you all the time. That’s larger sized display than a lot of people even have with their home computer. Another advanteage is the keyboard size which is the equivilant of a full sized desktop keyboard. There is no need for them to shrink the keyboard in anyway to fit the size of a smaller laptop. One of the advanteage that I liked most about owning a 20″ laptop was that most of those models are geared towards media and because of this you can actually watch tv on some of them. I loved this feature and used it quite a bit. For a lot of people that laptop screen will almost be as large as their tv and with some of the software available you can actually do more by watching tv on your laptop, like install some DVR software and actually record and pause live it.

Disadvanteage of a 20″ Laptop

There are also some obvious disadvantages to having such a large laptop. The first that comes to mind is battery life. While you can fit a larger battery in the bottom of the notebook, you will definitely need it to power that 20″ laptop screen. You’ve also have the problem of carrying around such a large laptop that weighs quite a bit. The HP 20″ laptop actually weighs around 15 lbs.

20 Inch Laptop Bags

A 20 inch laptop bag is a great idea if you’re going to invest in such a large laptop. As we mentioned before, they do weigh around 15 pounds. Luckily the same companies that make traditional sized laptop bags and laptop sleeves also make the larger versions for this type of laptop. They will be harder to find however and will also have a much slimmer selection for styles, colors, and designs.

Most people already know if they need a 20″ laptop. They are also aware and ok with the disadvantage that come along with this type of laptop. Infact they definitely think that advantage greatly outweigh the disadvantages and after using one I’d have to agree. They are a great laptop to work on.

Thanks for writing this. Finding a 20 inch laptop bag was harder than I thought.

  2. I was looking to buy a laptop computer table for the refurbished laptop computer in my office but I’m finding that I can get significantly lower prices online instead of driving down to my local Radio Shack, in many instances 50%-70% cheaper. The only bad part is that I have to wait several days to get it in my hands.
