If you haven’t heard of Project Natal, let me give you a brief overview of what it is. It is an accessory for the Xbox 360 that allows you to control the games with your entire body motions. You are able to do that thanks to the two cameras that are in there, one RGB and the other infrared, and the intelligent software that comes with it. While there have been very few details that have been released as far as Project Natal games, there has definitely been a ton of speculation about what kinds of games can be played with Project Natal, and the different ideas people have come up with.
I really think that Project Natal fitness games will definitely be a huge popular genre for this accessory. Since it has the opportunity to give you feedback as to whether or not you are doing the exercise right, in real-time, it will be like having a personal trainer inside your own home. Just like the Wii Fit and all of the Wii Fit games that have come out, I think that exercise games for the Project Natal accessory will be a very popular genre. Plus, I think they’ll really be able to help people to work out more and lost more weight since they’ll getting the feedback on whether or not they are doign the exercises properly.
Another genre that will do well I believe is the fighting games genre. Up until now, fighting games on any video game console has pretty much been reduced to button mashing and who can remember all of the specific combos better. Not anymore, since you’ll be able to duck and dodge, and throw punches and kicks and have those all register in the game. Imagine actually being able to throw a glob of ice as Sub Zero on mortal combat, and get in the boxing ring and do some fighting.
While these are all speculation, it is definitely exciting to consider the possibilities with this new accessory and way of video gaming.
