Helping The Environment By Reading with Amazon Kindle

There is so much talk around about ebook readers, especially with yet another launch of the Amazon Kindle, (I suspect this is targetted towards catching the christmas shopping crowd).
I read somewhere recently that people were debating whether these ebook readers would help preserve this world that we all live in, by lessening our need to chop down lots of trees. Thinking about it, it kind of makes sense. I mean sure, fewer trees would get cut down, less forests would be affected, if we all started reading our news and books on ebook readers, right?
Instead of reading our daily newspaper in paper form and then leaving this paper lying around ready to be thrown away, and creating clutter in our home or office, what if we accessed our newspapers digitally and read them via a device such as an ebook reader? The beauty of this is that once we have read the day’s news, there is no clutter or unwanted newspaper lying around anymore. We accessed everything online and now we don’t need it we can delete it. Less hassle, less clutter, more effeciency and more forests.
We use up so much paper in homes and offices across the country that it is crazy. Often half of the documents we print off at work tend to be copies of what has already been printed off. Our filing systems are archaic and unwieldy. If everything was available in a digital format and could be accessed at the touch of a button, for example, say in a company, then straight away we have become more effecient and organized because we know we can access records online or on a server. Instead of having to search for them in a filing cabinet somewhere. Being green and environmentally friendly would be a bonus on top of being more effecient and it all results from reducing our dependance on paper based systems and heading more towards accessing information digitally.
By using technology to do things differently, we can positively impact our effeciency and also leave the world in a better place. If it means that less trees and forests are destroyed because less paper is needed, then ebook readers are a good way to go.
