The Lenovo’s ThinkPad X301 has a slim design and a large display when compared to its previous models. It can be considered as Lenovo’s best ThinkPad in group of ultraportable laptops. Unlike the Lenovo Tablet PC series, the ThinkPad X series does not have a touch screen for user input. However, the X-series does boast of user-friendliness to that provided by high end Tablet PCs.
Design and Features:
Lenovo ThinkPad X301 has a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 processor. The chipset of ThinkPad X301 is Mobile Intel GS45 express. The speed of the data bus is 800 MHZ. It provides L2 type cache memory and its size is 3 MB. It has an internal chassis and roll cage which uses a highly developed carbon-fiber / glass-fiber material that provides both potency and light weight. This laptop notebook has a weight of 3.2 lbs and is 0.9 inch in thickness. It has a Fingerprint reader and Trusted Platform Module (TPM 1.2) Security Chip. It has wireless facility such as IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11b, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11 n (draft) etc. The installed size of its ram is 2 GB / 4 GB (max), working on DDR3 (SDRAM – 1066 MHz) technology. The Hard drive capacity is 64 GB. It also has a card reader which supports many cards like Flash memory and SD Memory Card.
Lenovo ThinkPad X301 has a display Type of 13.3 inches TFT screen with a resolution 1440 x 900 (WXGA+). This ThinkPad is having a 1.3 Megapixel camera with Sensor Resolution. ThinkPad X301 has Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics card. This graphic card makes use of Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0. The Audio codec used in this ThinkPad is AD1984A and it has High Definition Audio output standards. The battery is made up of 3-cell Lithium polymer technology. Regarding the service and support the company gives a three year warranty. Some of its characteristics are Power-on password, administrator, hard disk password protection, Security padlock provision and Intel Active Management Technology. Its Optical Storage has a DVD-Writer – Plug-in module.
The good:
ThinkPad X301 is Lenovo’s one of the best laptops. Its sleek design and the additional slot for memory card is an advantage. It’s extremely thin (thickness is under 1-inch) and light feature makes it easy to slip it into a bag for hauling purposes which makes it ultraportable. Its Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) Core voltage technology is an added advantage.
The bad:
Major disadvantage of it is that it is expensive and the location of touch pad makes it easy to fortuitously nibble while typing.
