It is probably known to you that senior mobile phones are the most basic handsets that are there in the market today. Yet, choosing a good phone for old people can be quite a task. Let’s see what we mean when we say ‘a good senior mobile phone’. Well, it simply means a very easy to use handset with all basic features, organized in an uncomplicated way.
These phones are a must have for old people; first because they can keep in touch with their loved ones without even meeting them and second, at the time of any emergency they can call for help easily.
These devices have some specific features, knowing which will help you buy the right phone. First on the list is the price. Now, these mobiles are very basic and thus should be very lowly priced. Moreover, senior citizens usually don’t have a fixed earning to afford expensive phones.
Second is the keypad. The layout of the keypad should be easy enough for a senior person to use with bigger keys. This arrangement enables them to see the numbers clearly and dial comfortably without stressing their eyes or fingers much.
After a certain age, weakened eye-sight is almost an unavoidable problem. Thus, larger displays on screen help them see better. Next on the list is, powerful speakers. For people who have problems in hearing, such phones are equipped with louder speakers compared to normal. Some phones also have emergency dialing system. Not all would have this feature but having it is a bonus. What you need to do is set a particular number to the emergency key. Now if there is an emergency situation, all you have to do is press the emergency button and the phone automatically dials the assigned number.
One last but the most important point which makes it a perfect package is user friendliness. These phones should not be packed with features. They should be very basic and simple. Once all these points are ticked on your check-list, you know you have made the right pick.
